As we known there are RGB ,RGBW and RGBWW LED strips that without IC chip control, we called analog RGB ,analog RGBW and analog RGBWW LED strips which only can play same color changing for the entire led strips.

What's the difference between RGB LED,RGBW LED and RGBWW LED?

Sometimes we got asked what’s the difference between digital RGB, digital RGBW and digital RGBWW led strips and why some digital led strips have higher price than others, especially when both can effectively do the same thing.

• RGB LED is 3-in-1 LED chip which is made of R-G-B assembled in 5050 package that have 6 feet.
• RGBW LED is 4-in-1 LED chip which is made of R-G-B-W assembled in 5050 package that is 8 feet.
• RGBW LED is 5-in-1 LED chip which is made of W-R-G-B-WW assembled in 5050 package that is 10 feet.

RGB LED can produce a deep Red,Green and Blue color, according to the laws of spectroscopy other colors are blended via above three colors, but it still has some disadvantages especially when we want to get pure white color. There RGB LEDs always couldn’t create pure white which most of RGB leds play white always reddish or greenish on the LED market currently.

How RGBW RGBWW LEDs come out ? 

• To solve above problem, adding an extra white chip is necessary to blend the colors that RGBW LED come out.
• As we always said, demand always increasing. Some customers found RGBW LED only can play single warm white or single cool white that couldn’t get the special white color changing between warm white and cool white.

• So 5-in-1 RGBWW LED is updated version on the 4-in-1 RGBW LED which combine warm white and cold white led together that we can get more white color CCT via tunable. This 5-in-1 LED we called RGBTW LED too ( T means Tunable).

From above description, it seems not initially sound like there is too much difference between RGB,RGBW and RGBWW led strip, but whatever digital RGB , digital RGBW and digital RGBTW led tapes, there is actually a couple of things worth considering which depends on the individual requests of your projects.

For the analog RGB, analog RGBW and analog RGBWW LED strips, we should choose the correct controller to play color changing.

But for the digital RGB, digital RGBW and digital RGBWW LED strips, we should note the correct IC chip when we program the effects color changing. Different IC chip has different protocol.

How I choose the suitable products for my projects?

Always some customers have no ideas of which one is more suitable.

• Well. Digital RGBW LED strips is undoubtedly better than the digital RGB LED strips.

• Of course, inevitably digital RGBW LED strips is higher price than the digital RGB led pixel tapes.

  Regarding the prices difference, normally is RGB < RGBW < RGBWW led strips price.

• If you have no much requirements for the pure white, our classical digital RGB led strip is the most cost effective.

• However, if you want to get the digital tunable white color , our digital RGBWW LED strips is the best choice.

What's the controller for our digital RGB,digital RGBW and digital RGBWW led pixel strips for my projects?

• Suitable controller choose should depends on your projects like the strips you purcahsed, the effects you want and the project environments. 

• If you purchased the SPI version LED pixel strips, just simple programs, you can choose our K-1000C / K-8000C or SP107E /SP108E pixel controller.

• If you purchased the SPI version LED pixel strip, but need complicated programs like 3D effects, this need our YM-501 LED pixel controller. 
• If you purchased the DMX512 series LED pixel tape, you can get our YM-501 LED pixel controller. 
• Of course, if you got were the analog RGB ,RGBW and RGBWW led strips, you just purchase the PWM LED controller.
